The McHenry Family

Hillside Nursery was established in 1925 and acquired by Robert E. McHenry in 1948, starting the current McHenry Family ownership for 70 years. Bob McHenry began his career gardening for the Sisters of St. Joseph in Del Norte, Colorado before relocating to Wichita. He began selling fruit trees from the trunk of his car before running the nursery full time.

The 1960’s saw Bob’s three sons enter the business. Robert Jr. (Bo), Greg, & Marshall worked alongside their father throughout the 1960’s and 70’s. Eventually Bo and Marshall went on to establish their own successful businesses leaving Greg to take the reins as second generation owner of the nursery. Greg guided the nursery throughout the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s with help from his sons Mark and Matthew, who entered the business in the early 90’s.

Mark and Matthew continue the McHenry Family ownership of Hillside Nursery, relying on the foundation laid by their grandfather and father over the last seven decades.
